Kristan Lee Read

I was born in Brisbane in 1969 and spent my childhood travelling the globe. My early years were spent campervanning around Europe, followed by primary school on Bougainville Island (Papua New Guinea), and adventures in boarding school on the Gold Coast. A move to the USA brought high school experiences in both the Midwest and Northwest, and I completed university in the deep South. In 1994, I found my way back home.

I completed my training as a Waldorf Educator and Steiner Teacher in 2000, followed by my training as a Holistic Remedial Educator in 2001, and earned my Bachelor of Education in 2003. In 2024, I completed my Masters in Social Work.

In 2010, I began as a student of the Four Seasons Journey with The School of Shamanic Womancraft. I went on to apprentice, intern, and eventually become a teacher of the program, graduating in 2016. In 2019, I co-taught my first Four Seasons Journey in the Blue Mountains and currently facilitate the e-course Earth Woman, offered by the School. I have also completed training as a teacher and facilitator of the one-day workshops offered by the School, including Moonsong, Becoming a Woman, The Shamanic Dimensions of Pregnancy, and Autumn Woman Harvest Queen.

In 2013, in collaboration with my teacher Jane Hardwicke Collings, founder of The School of Shamanic Womancraft, I developed Project Pomegranate—a project that began with the intention of reframing Eating Disorders as another symptom of the wounded Feminine within Patriarchal Culture, and offering ceremony as a path to healing.

I have participated in and presented at festivals and conferences both in Australia and internationally. My work has been published in the Squat Birth Journal, BettyMag, Birth Matters, and Midirs. I am also one of the founding members of the Huon Women’s Health Collective. I offer one-to-one private sessions using the modality of Shamanic Womancraft, as well as Shamanic Womancraft circles.
