Emotional Freedom Techniques

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), often called “tapping,” is a gentle yet powerful practice that helps regulate the nervous system, process emotional pain, and release the energy of stuck or overwhelming experiences. It works by tapping on specific points on the body while bringing awareness to what’s coming up emotionally or physically.
EFT incorporates the tapping points with approaches of Acceptance Commitment Therapy, exposure therapy, narrative therapy, and parts work. It is highly researched and has been demonstrated to be an effective treatment for chronic pain, addiction, depression, anxiety, insomnia, PTSD and CPTSD. It is also effective working in the areas of fertility, pregnancy, conflict, goal setting, and more. Comparative studies show EFT to be more effective than Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (and over a shorter period of time), and equally as effective as EMDR.
In studies exploring the outcomes of EFT on physiological markers, the following was found:
37% decrease in cortisol (stress hormone)
35% decrease in depression
40% decrease in anxiety
113% increase in immune system
31% increase in happiness
At its core, EFT is about making space for your truth. It helps us move through old patterns and beliefs that may have once protected us, but are now holding us back. It brings the body into the healing process so that change isn’t just something we think about, but something we feel and embody.
